One of my guilty pleasures is rearranging and finding new ways to set up an area.
In my current apartment I didn’t even know where to begin because there’s not even a lot of space to move around!
First order of business – pour yourself a big ol’ glass of wine. You’re gonna be here for awhile!

Next, I like to move all little items or anything that is going to get in the way of moving the big items onto my bed or couch or as far out of the way as they could get – which in my case was the teeny hallway I have by my bathroom.
To be honest, the first time I rearranged my room I sat staring at everything for probably a good 30 minutes. I had NO idea where I wanted to put everything I just knew I wanted to change things up.
I also had a few breakdowns along the way cursing myself for choosing to start this project because I HAVE SO MUCH STUFF I DONT EVEN KNOW WHAT TO DO WITH IT.
“The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up” by Marie Kondo was a lifesaver throughout the process and is one I still try to use whenever I get the itch to change things up.
“The best way to choose what to keep and what to throw away is to take each item in one’s hand and ask: “Does this spark joy?” If it does, keep it. If not, dispose of it. This is not only the simplest but also the most accurate yardstick by which to judge”
I have a terrible time with letting things go because ‘I might just need or use or wear it one day’ and of course that day never comes. The KonMari method is not about just getting rid of things we don’t need, but keeping the items that mean the most to us or bring us joy.
